Happy New Year everyone!
It's officially been one week since 2021 began and let's just say, it hasn't been all smooth sailing. Not that we want to recap on it, but if you didn't see what happened in the US or hear about the UK's new predicament, well then you have definitely been MIA.
But this is a place for escape, to an extent and therefore let's start the year on SJ with a bit of happiness.
I used to make resolutions every year and then felt pressured to go through with them. I then switched from resolutions to goals, which I wrote about on this blog. But with the upside down that was 2020 and the uncertainty of 2021, because let's face it - we're not in the clear yet, I've decided to make a change again.
This year, I've decided to make what I like to called "The Happiness List".
With life being different and things being harder, on a various scales for everyone, I thought the best idea this year was to focus on cultivating the good and positive energy within. My happiness list is just the little things I know that will make me happy and feel good. For example; singing and dancing more, reading, writing, learning more photography skills and so on. I've also got practical happiness points, such as finishing my Masters with good grades and even diving in again with my education, and working on my career, especially this blog. I've even got points for my mental health, fitness and self love.
What "The Happiness List" does for me, as opposed to goals and resolutions at a time like we are in, is make sure that I'm keeping my spirits high and hopeful. Life is not easy, especially during a time none of us have ever experience in our lifetimes. So making a list of happiness might help you get through it just that little bit more.
A few little life updates...
I started vlogging - If you didn't follow along on Instagram, then you may not know that I participated in Vlogmas over Christmas. Yes, I've become a vlogger. It's happened and I actually really enjoyed doing it, so I'm going to make it a regular thing! Starting next Wednesday (13th), I will be uploading weekly vlogs on my YouTube channel. So subscribe to keep yourself in the loop.
Jewellery Obsession: Chain Reaction - You may have noticed on my Instagram that the last few jewellery posts have had a common theme; chains. I absolutely love chainlink anything, always have, whether it be in jewellery or on clothes & accessories. So I've decided to buy into that love with some new pieces. The earrings I found by chance on an Instagram ad. (I have a love-hate relationship with IG ads...) They are from a Sri Lankan small brand called Atypical, which has beautiful jewellery. I immediately fell in love with this particular pair; they felt very Bottega. If you live in Sri Lanka, I would definitely recommend checking them out! My necklace was a beautiful gift from the family for Christmas and I'm utterly obsessed.
Honourable Mention: Bridgerton - I just finished it actually but all I'll say is call me the Duchess of Hastings because I am married to Regé-Jean Page in my head already. I thought it was absolutely beautiful and you can bet I'm waiting for the season 2 announcement.
So there's a little update on my life, nothing major but just things that deserved a little mention. I hope to have a lot more in store for 2021 (including getting back to using my camera, just waiting for my battery to arrive). I would love to know what you want to see on the blog, so let me know in the comments below.
I'm wishing you all a wonderful year ahead and keep your happiness alive!
Lots of Love,
Emily xx
