Colour trends are endless; some timeless, some just for the moment. Monochrome is something that we all pull off on the regular, matching a pieces of the same tone together. This can become mundane when you overdo it, so I thought I'd give my spin on the monochrome trend - by adding touches of contrasting colour.
I went with navy blue because it's rich in colour and classic, plus you'll probably have the colour already in your wardrobe. (It's all about using what you have first). An old baggy, boyfriend top with cropped cigarette trousers is an easy look that you can dress up or down. You could even wear this to work if you wanted. For extra "wow" detailing I paired a pair of cherry red pumps and a sage-pistachio coloured mini bag with knot detailing. Both pieces are simple yet effective enough to give this look that little bit more.
Last thing is statement jewellery that doesn't go overboard. I took an old Gucci bangle style watch with two bracelets to catch the eye. I absolutely love layering bracelets and watches right now. I know everyone's doing it but that's because it is so easy and fits any look. Definitely look into purchasing a statement watch and bracelets that can be your forever go-to jewellery.
Monochrome doesn't have to be boring if you find the right accessories to pair with it. This season (and probably next) bold monochrome suits are the way forward, which I love. If I were to wear one, I would do the same as I did here - pair a one or two extra colours to bring the monochrome to life.
What monochrome or colour trends are you loving right now? I can't wait to try the all white and mustard yellow next. I still can't get my head around the highlighter one, I just can't.
What else would you like to see on the blog? I'm branching into new ideas and I'd love to know what you think. Let me know in the comments below!
