A Touch Of Custom Tailoring

I have the privilege of having two homes and I love it. Living between England and Sri Lanka is probably one of the best things because of how different they are. When it comes to fashion between the two, England has access to all our favourite stores and is street-style central whilst Sri Lanka has a more unique vibrancy and the availability to custom tailor.

Custom tailoring is something I have been doing for a long time. Well, my Mum has and I just steal her clothes. Everything from dresses to kaftans to trousers, she's had it made which makes her wardrobe unique and individual. My mum has one of the best styles out there, even if I do say so myself. So I decided to jump on her band-wagon and get myself custom tailored pieces that are individual to me but also are similar to the styles that I'm after from the high street.

It's so easy to buy high quality material in Sri Lanka. There are many shops and places that have endless rows of fabric that will have you dreaming up your next perfect outfit. Which is what I did whilst I was there.

I took inspiration from my Pinterest boards, what I was seeing on Instagram and from online stores and decided to make those special pieces I know I could wear over and over in different ways. I made lace camisoles (my current obsession), a suit, trousers, dresses and this skirt and top co-ord that you see here.

I've been completely drawn to midi skirts, but the flowy kind that make you feel like you're floating on a cloud. When I found this silk satin material, it was a no-brainer. I made this outfit in two colours; this nude colourway and a punch rose pink. This was the first time I wore the set and I just love it.

It's comfortable, chic and simple. It's perfectly versatile, enough so that I can wear a pair of Converse with it and still look good. I could dress this up or down and that's what I strive for in my wardrobe. And I can pair the two pieces separately. There's endless possibilities.

Having custom pieces that are fit for your personality and style are perfect. That's why I've turned more to custom tailoring.

I know that it can be expensive sometimes in different countries to turn to tailoring, but if you can do it I advise you to. Grab those saved images in your phone of outfits you're dying for, go buy some material and find someone to create it for you or if you're really talented, create it yourself.

There's always times when we are after a new piece for our wardrobe that we are craving but can't find in our favourite stores - solution: custom tailoring.
